The school media centers maintain an open access policy.
Book Check-Out Policy
Library books are checked out for a period of 1 week, after which they become overdue.
Kindergarten - 1 book
First Grade - 1 book
Second - Fifth Grades - 2 books
Students who have overdue library books or resources must return them before checking out more. Overdue notices will be printed and delivered to teachers on a regular basis. We do not charge fines for books that are overdue, however payment for lost books is expected. Refunds will be given for any books found and returned during the school year.
Classes visit the media center once a week for a 30 minute period.
Fifth grade classes visit the media center once a week for a 40 minute period.
Our media centers have a computerized card catalog (OPAC- Online Public Access Catalog) that can be used to find resources. There are at least 2 Library Catalog computers in each elementary media center, and at least one computer in every classroom that are connected to our library. Students are taught to use the OPAC in the second grade.
Student use of the Internet is supervised and monitored. All students and their parents or guardians are required to sign our district internet use policy.
